August: My Best Sleep Month Since Ditching Sleeping Pills

After years of struggling with insomnia and relying on sleeping pills to get through the night, August marked a significant milestone for me—my best sleep month yet since giving up on those pills. It’s been a long journey, but the results are finally showing, and I couldn't be more thrilled to share my progress.

The Numbers Don’t Lie

I’ve been tracking my sleep closely, and here’s what August looked like:

  • Average Daily Sleep: 6.53 hours
  • Average Time Spent in Bed: 8.91 hours
  • Sleep Efficiency: 73.23%

These numbers might not seem extraordinary, but for me, they represent a major improvement. Getting over six and a half hours of sleep on average each night without any sleep aids is a huge win. My sleep efficiency—calculated as the percentage of time spent asleep while in bed—has also improved, showing that I’m not just lying awake for hours anymore.

The Journey to Better Sleep

Quitting sleeping pills was not easy. The initial weeks were tough, with restless nights and moments of doubt. But I was determined to find a natural rhythm. I started implementing a consistent bedtime routine, reducing screen time before bed, and practicing mindfulness techniques to calm my mind. Over time, these habits began to pay off, and my sleep gradually improved.

August was the first month where I truly felt the benefits. I woke up feeling more refreshed, my mood improved, and my overall well-being got a significant boost. It’s been a reminder that sometimes, the best solutions are the ones that come naturally, with patience and persistence.
